3rd Year BA Musical Theatre
Devised by Julian Woolford from the songs and letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya
A romance between a Jewish composer and a Catholic actress in Nazi Germany was hardly likely to succeed, but Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya’s complex and passionate lovestory is one of the most enduring of the twentieth century. Speak Low is a new musical voyage from the cabaret clubs of Berlin in the 1920s and ‘30s to Broadway musical of the ‘40s and ‘50s, using only their words and featuring many of Weill’s best-loved songs including September Song, Surabaya Johnny, My Ship and Mack the Knife.
The Box Office for productions at the Ivy Arts Centre and PATs Studios opens Thursday 19th January
