When Who Cares was first staged at the Royal Court Theatre in the run up to the 2015 general election, the NHS was a crucial political campaigning point and Michael Wynne’s play invited audiences to think about the institution, their relationship with it and how they valued it.
Roll on to the Covid-19 pandemic and there couldn’t be a more important time to contribute to debate around the NHS: its funding, future and role in British society. Rehearsing and staging this play in a Covid-safe way – which is testimony to the amazing professionalism of this group of aspiring theatre professionals – has made it all the more poignant for those involved with the production. We hope you find it thought-provoking.
