GSA, Guys and Dolls Gala Event at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre

Over 200 guests including renowned alumni, casting directors, industry agents, University of Surrey executives, and Guildford Borough councillors attended GSA’s gala night performance of Guys and Dolls on Wednesday 22nd February. Max Lu, Vice Chancellor of University of Surrey, Brenda Blethyn OBE, Ian Kelsey, Emma Barton were among guests at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre who gave the cast of 2017 Musical Theatre graduates a standing ovation for their inspired performances.

Guys and Dolls received 5 Star reviews and played to packed houses during its nine performance run. The cast of thirty-nine final year BA Musical Theatre students were performing together for the first time and have reached the pinnacle of their three year training. They have just one more production each ahead of them this season plus a London Showcase in May after which they will start their professional careers in earnest.

Head of GSA, Sean McNamara, himself a graduate of the school said “This outstanding production showcases the high standards continually achieved by our Performance and Technical theatre students. Furthermore, it demonstrates why GSA is a world leading centre of excellence for Musical Theatre training.
